KCRG’s Keegan Turnbough highlighted the incredible community support behind the first-ever “Live Like Cam Day” in Peosta, Iowa, honoring Cameron Schaefer and helping raise awareness for organ donation.
Nearly two years after Cameron’s passing, more than 20 local businesses came together to support the cause by donating proceeds from specialty items and community events benefiting the University of Wisconsin Organ and Tissue Donation program.
The story shared how Cameron chose to become an organ donor at 19 years old, ultimately giving others the opportunity to continue living healthy lives through the donation of his heart, liver, kidneys, and corneas.
The feature also highlighted the mission of Live Like Cam, including promoting organ donation awareness, attentive driving, motorcycle safety, trade scholarships, and giving back to local communities through positive action and community events.
“The community showed up and it was amazing,” said Kelly Mills of Jumble Coffee.
